Lingual: Jailbreak Tweak Brings Siri Voice Translation to iPhone 4S

As we reported earlier, Mario Hros a.k.a kexik has released a jailbreak tweak called AssistantExtensions, which seems to be the mother of all Siri jailbreak tweaks.

The jailbreak tweak not only allows you to open apps, send tweets, enable/disable Settings toggles, control brightness, respring Springboard etc., it also provides a framework for other developers to create Siri extensions.

Lingual is the first such third-party extension for AssistantExtensions. It allows you to translate phrases or text in to over 30 languages using Siri, which can be very useful while travelling abroad.

After installing the tweak all you need to do is say something like "translate [phrase] to [language]" or "what's [phrase] in [language]" and the tweak will show you the translated text in Siri in that language.

Lingual supports the following languages: Arabic, Czech, Danish, German, French, Spanish, Estonian, Finnish, Dutch, Greek, Hebrew, Haitian, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Lithuanian, Latvian, Norwegian, Romanian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Slovak, Slovene, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Ukranian, Vietnamese, Simplified and Traditional Chinese.

You can check out the impressive video of Lingual in action below:

Lingual is developed by CodeThemed and is available in Cydia for free.

Now, if someone can figure out a way for Siri to say the translated text in one of those 35 languages, that would make this jailbreak tweak even better.

Still haven't jailbroken your iPhone 4S using Absinthe jailbreak? Maybe it's time to review that decision.
