Quick Fix For White Icons Bug After iPhone 4S, iPad 2 Untethered Jailbreak

If you have experienced white or blank application icons on your SpringBoard (homescreen) after Jailbreaking your iPhone 4S or iPad 2 Untethered on the iOS 5 firmware generation with Absinthe for Windows and Mac OS X. You will be glad to know that fixing the white icons error should be an extremely easy thing to do. This is because Planetbeing has tweeted a very quick solution to the blank icons error.

Absinthe White Icons Error FixIf you read the tweet above by Planetbeing you will realize that fixing the blank icons error is as easy as launching Cydia and then installing a free Cydia tweak like SBSettings. It is good to keep in mind, however, that while this solution should (should being the key word here) fix your white icon errors it is not guaranteed. If you are still experiencing the white icons after installing a Cydia tweak we suggest either trying to re-jailbreak with Absinthe v0.2 or restoring your iPhone 4S or iPad 2 and Jailbreaking it fresh.

Please leave your feedback on this solution to the blank icons error in the comments section below…

Should I Re-Jailbreak With Absinthe V0.2? [Find Out Now]

Earlier today we told you that the Dream Team released Absinthe v0.2 for Mac OS X and even Windows. In Absinthe v0.2 Planetbeing mentions that there are numerous bug fixes that have been implemented. Including fixes to the no reboot after activating VPN or tapping the Absinthe icon on your SpringBoard (homescreen) bug. Another pressing bug that has been fixed in Absinthe v0.2 is the white icons bug that happened after successfully Jailbreaking your iPhone 4S or iPad 2.

With these bug fixes I know that a lot of you are going to be wondering whether it would be worth it or not to re-jailbreak your iPhone 4S or iPad 2. Well, to answer your question, according to Planetbeing re-jailbreaking your iPhone 4S or iPad 2 with Absinthe v2.0 would be pointless.

Re-Jailbreak with Absinthe v0.2?

This is because the bugs that Absinthe v2.0 fixes are not bugs related to effecting the performance of your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad after Jailbreaking it. The errors fixed in Absinthe v2.0 will only make things more stable during the Jailbreak process for new users trying to Jailbreak their iPhone 4S or iPad 2. Planetbeing goes on to saying that if a significant bug is found in the A5 Untethered Jailbreak a Cydia package will be released to fix this error(s) (meaning there should never be a need to re-Jailbreak).

P0sixninja: Absinthe For Windows Will Be Out Soon!

The A5 untethered jailbreak has been released and everyone is jailbreaking their iPhone 4S and iPad 2 untethered. The wait is finally over, but not for everyone. The Absinthe tool, released by GreenPoison, has been made for Mac OS X only and Windows users are not feeling so good. There has been no update on when the Windows version of this tool will be released.

If you’re a Windows user and are frustrated at the moment, then this tweet from @posixninja will soon calm you down. He is also a contributer, and this was the tweet that he just sent out:

So, users who are waiting for the Windows version of Absinthe to jailbreak their iPhone 4S or iPad 2, will have to wait a little longer. Wait for Nikias to get home and he will have it ready for you to download. All the members of the Dream Team and the others who contributed have done so much already. It’s surely okay to wait a little longer for the Windows version.

Mac users, have you already jailbroken your iPhone 4S or iPad 2?

Download CLI Windows Untethered Jailbreak For iPhone 4S And iPad 2

Yesterday we told you that the iPhone Dev-Team released a command line interface (CLI) version of their iPhone 4S and iPad 2 Untethered Jailbreak. As of the time of writing that article yesterday, CLI was only available for Mac OS X users. Now, however, hacker MuscleNerd has mentioned that CLI is available for Windows users that will allow them to Jailbreak their iPhone 4S and iPad 2 Untethered running the iOS 5.0 (iPhone 4S only) or iOS 5.0.1 firmware by typing in commands through terminal (CMD). Generally Jailbreak solutions are released with a GUI (graphical user interface), but as the A5 Untethered Jailbreak proved to be one of the most complicated Jailbreaks ever developed, it looks like Windows users will be stuck using the command line version of the tool until Absinthe is properly updated.

CLI Windows Download

If you would like to download CLI for Windows please click here (not working? Click here instead). Additionally, the ReadMe for the CLI tool can be found by clicking here. Samsung Loves Making Fun Of Apple Fanboys

We have seen the regular crew waiting patiently in line-up to the launch of Apple’s newest phone for a couple months now in Samsung’s advertising campaign. Well Samsung has now added a new one to its collection.

As we see in this one, the Apple fanboys are inching closer to the release of the newest phone, to only be disappointed that it is not a redesign. It doesn’t take a detective to discover Samsung is pointing their fingers right at the iPhone 4S with that remark. Maybe one day those few people will eventually get their new phone, lets hope before the iPhone 5 is released.

Have you ever waited in line-up for a product launch before? Do you plan on waiting in line-up for the iPad 3 launch? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below.

Troubleshooting Tips if You’re Having Problems Jailbreaking Your iPhone 4S / iPad 2 Using Absinthe

greenpois0n absinthe

Chronic Dev team released a new jailbreak tool called Absinthe to jailbreak iPhone 4S and iPad 2 yesterday.

If you hit any problems while or after jailbreaking your iPhone 4S or iPad 2 using Absinthe then checkout our troubleshooting tips, which should help in resolving them. It includes a fix for the annoying issue where Absinthe does not recognise the iOS device, which results in the Jailbreak button being greyed out.

Here are some of the tips that have helped a number of readers:

1. Please ensure you're using the latest version of Absinthe - its currently 0.1.2-2. You can download it using this link.

2. In case you haven't used our step-by-step guide then check them out to ensure you've following the correct procedure:

3. Ensure you've updated iTunes to the latest version (iTunes 10.5.3). 4. Fix for grey Jailbreak button: A number of readers have reported that their iPhone 4S/iPad 2 isn't recognised after launching Absinthe and the Jailbreak button stays grey. Reader R Wass has a tip to fix this issue. He writes:

If you are having the problem where you cannot click jailbreak on absinthe with your device plugged in, start your mac in safe mode.  You do this by turning it off and starting it back up while holding the shift key, then launch absinthe after it starts in safe mode. You should now be able to click jailbreak when you plug in your device. it worked for me.

Thanks Wass for the tip! 5. White Screen or Error establishing a database connection error: A number of readers have reported that they're getting "Error establishing a database connection" error message while loading the site or are seeing a white screen when they launch the Absinthe app. If you're still getting that error message or white screen when you use Absinthe tool v0.1.2-2, then the following trick will work: Launch the Settings app. Then tap on General, followed by Network and then tap on VPN, here you will get "A configuration error occurred" message. However after a minute, your iPhone 4S will reboot and you should be able to see Cydia icon your iPhone 4S home screen.

6. Disable Passcode Temporarily:

If it still doesn't help, just reboot your iPhone 4S and start the process all over again. It may also be a good idea to disable your passcode when you try again as the tool gives a warning request that jailbreaking is most likely to fail if passcode is enabled (don't forget to enable it though after your iPhone 4S / iPad 2 is successfully jailbroken).

7. If you think it is taking a long time (or get the feeling that Absinthe isn't doing anything) then be patient, it took more than 45 minutes to jailbreak our iPad 2 using Absinthe. Check out the timings mentioned in our step-by-step guides for the timings for some of the steps.

8. If troubleshooting tips 1 and 7 don't help then iPhone Dev team has advised restoring your iPhone 4S if you don't care about unlocking (not the ideal solution though).

9. If you've subscribed to iTunes Match, but having problems playing music after jailbreaking using Absinthe then try to disable iTunes Match (via Settings -> Music -> iTunes Match -> On/Off toggle) and enable iTunes Match again. It seems to have resolved the issue for some users.

10. If you think App Store is not working after jailbreaking using Absinthe, please be patient, it has taken a long time for some users, but it eventually loads fine and should work without any issue. You can also try to reboot tour iPhone to see if it helps.

We hope these troubleshooting steps helped. Let us know how it goes in the comments.
